When Martin cam to us she was burned severely as a child around age 6. She suffers from seizures as well as mental disabilities.  She can not speak but can hear and laugh and cry. We were told her father was ashamed of her and kept her tied to a post all day. Then he pushed her in the fire and when she was sent to the hospital he refused to acknowledge that she was his daughter. Martina could only lay flat on her back when she came and ate with her hands. She now uses a fork to feed herself and has learned to sit up, stand holding onto something and walk with assistance.   Martina age 16 is still attending a special needs school this yr. Martina has shown interest in looking at photo albums. She has started using her stander again since Dave fixed it. Martina is getting more difficult to walk since she shows no interest in trying, however we continue to force her to walk wherever she goes with our help. She gets very excited by and enjoys church. We are still working on a new endeavor with her-trying to teach her to crawl. Please pray for her progress. We are also concentrating more on her Spirit by reading the Bible to her for set amounts of time each day and working on her Heart by encouraging the kids and adults in our family to show her more affection since she responds well to touch and smiles. She loves when people talk to her and pay close attention to her..

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after the orphans in their distress.
