Orphan Resources International is currently supplying aid to 45+ orphanages in Guatemala City and the surrounding area. These orphanages on an average have 30-60 children each. There are no government orphanages nor is there any government aid for the orphanages, they simply rely on the generosity of others.
There are 215 orphanages in Guatemala with approximately 20,000 children in these institutions. Because the orphanages are already overcrowded and the food can only reach so far, there are still thousands more that live on the streets.
We supply aid to these orphanages in several different ways. One is by giving them necessities such as diapers, milk, food, clothing, shoes, Bible story books, etc. We also send volunteers to help with the care of the children and work groups to do building maintenance and new construction of larger and better facilities.
Some of the things we do locally are church and Bible school presentations. We are also collecting donations of clothing, baby equipment, building supplies and miscellaneous items. Throughout the year we hold annual fundraising banquets and do various other fundraising projects.
